DBT Skills Group

Transforming Emotional Struggles into Strength

Anchored in Healing offers a supportive Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Skills Group designed to help participants build emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. This group is ideal for individuals who want to develop practical tools to manage intense emotions, navigate relationships more effectively, and create a more balanced life.

What to Expect

This group meets for one hour each week and provides an interactive, skills-based learning environment. Sessions include guided teaching, group discussion, and practical exercises so participants can integrate skills into daily life. Whether participants are new to DBT or looking to reinforce their existing skills, this group offers an encouraging and non-judgmental space to grow.

Core ideas of DBT:

  • Dialectics: Balancing acceptance (validating yourself and your experiences) with change (working toward new, healthier behaviors).
  • Skills-based approach: You don’t just talk about problems—you learn and practice specific skills to handle them.
  • Structure: Usually includes a combination of individual therapy, group skills training, and between-session coaching (though some programs offer just one or two of these components).
  • The four core DBT skill modules:
    1. Mindfulness – Being present and aware without judgment.
    2. Distress Tolerance – Surviving crises and accepting situations you can’t immediately change.
    3. Emotion Regulation – Understanding and managing intense feelings.
    4. Interpersonal Effectiveness – Building and maintaining healthy relationships while respecting yourself.
