Parent Coordination Services

Court-authorized support for high-conflict co-parenting

Parent Coordination is a structured, court-authorized service designed to help high-conflict parents implement existing parenting plans, reduce ongoing conflict, and create greater consistency and stability for children. These services focus on day-to-day parenting issues, not custody decisions, and are guided by the scope outlined in a court order or written agreement.

At Anchored in Healing, parent coordination is provided with neutrality, structure, and a child-centered lens to support healthier co-parenting dynamics and reduce the emotional burden placed on children.

What Is Parent Coordination?

Parent Coordination is a conflict-management and implementation service, not therapy and not legal advocacy. The role of the Parent Coordinator is to assist parents in applying existing court orders or parenting plans to real-life situations that frequently generate disagreement. The most common goals for parent coordination is to address communication breakdowns, decision making within the scope of the parenting plan, and learn work towards conflict resolution that prioritizes the stability of the child(ren).

The goal is to reduce repeated court involvement, improve compliance with existing orders, and help parents move forward with clearer structure and fewer disputes.

Who Parent Coordination Is For

Parent Coordination may be appropriate when:

Parent Coordination is most effective when both parents understand that the service is focused on, implementation and problem-solving, not revisiting past grievances. The best interest of the child(ren) will always remain the ultimate focus

Scope of Services

Parent Coordination services may include:

All services are provided within the defined scope of the court order or written agreement.

What Parent Coordination Is Not

To ensure ethical clarity, it is important to remember that clinicians doing parenting coordination are not providing therapy to either party participating in parent coordination, custody evaluators, mediators, legal representatives, or an advocate for either party. The Parent Coordinator remains neutral and focused on reducing conflict and supporting child stability.

Our Approach

At Anchored in Healing, Parent Coordination is:

We work from a systems-based perspective, recognizing how ongoing parental conflict impacts children’s emotional wellbeing. Our role is to support healthier co-parenting patterns while maintaining clear professional boundaries.

Court Involvement and Authority

Parent Coordination services are guided by a court order or written agreement signed by both parties. The scope of authority, communication parameters, decision-making ability (if any), and documentation expectations are defined in advance. Parent Coordinators do not exceed the authority granted by the court or agreement.
